In addition to our ongoing Weekend and Weekday Eucharistic Services, Queen of Apostles Catholic Church is also made up of a number of Ministries designed to serve its members as welll as the community. These Ministries include: Ascent Employment Program We provide assistance to those in our community needing meaningful employment especially those with troubled backgrounds. Website: www.ascentemploymentprogram.org Catholic Singles We are Catholic Singles from the ages of 30 to 49. We share a common interest in our faith and community. We commit ourselves to fellowship and friendship with each other. We plan social events, works of mercy and developing our faith. We work with a Core Team to plan out our activities. Contact Fr. Mike Carson, (408) 253-7560 Community Service Outreach A program offering opportunities for volunteers of our Parish to serve those in need in our local community. Some of the services include visiting those in nursing facilities, helping to drive people to Mass, medical appointments, or grocery shopping. Contact Paul Dominic, (408) 839-4486 Estate Planning Committee We help our parishioners to be informed on wills, trusts and inheritance. When a loved one passes away we help the family grieve the loss rather than be concerned with probate and inheritance. We help make the wishes of a loved one be heard. Contact John Ruzzo, (408) 554-9907 Eucharistic Adoration Come and participate in the prayer life of the Church by praying before the Blessed Sacrament. Contact: Bernadette Reyes, (408) 253-7560 Family Faith Formation We offer the opportunity for pre-school through adults to grow in the knowledge of their faith, develop a deeper spirituality, prepare for sacraments, and to be aware and work for the call of social justice. Finance Council Finance Council helps guide the financial health of the Parish and with the help of the Administrator, implements the Financial Directives of the Diocese of San Jose. Contact Fr. Michael Carson, (408) 253-7560 Get on the Bus There are children in our community whose parents are in prison. Sometimes these children have not seen their mother or father for years. Get on the Bus charters a bus and reunites these children with their fathers or mothers on Father's Day or Mother's Day. We help with hospitality for the day when the bus stops at our Parish. Website: http://www.getonthebus.us/ Grief Support Group This group allows parents, family and friends who have experienced the death of a loved one to come together in a non-judgmental, safe environment to vent frustrations, share coping skills, learn more about personal relations and discover available resources. Contact Shirley Gagliardi-Ruzzo, (408) 241-1209 Holy Names Society This is a group for men of Queen of Apostles School and Parish who will get together about once a month to join each other in fellowship and to support the School. Contact Troy Jones, (408) 978-3393 Music Ministry We lead the assembly in prayer through song. Each group consists, at minimum, a cantor and an accompanist. Some groups may require an audition. Rehearsal is once a week preceding Mass. Contact Teri Sylvestri, (408) 213-6506 Pastoral Council The Pastoral Council with the help of the Pastor, guides the spiritual, administrative and evangelical direction of the Parish. Members are appointed and discerned on to the Council. They work to enhance and coordinate programs and activities in the Parish for a stronger community. Contact Fr. Mike Carson, (408) 253-7560 Respect Life We believe that every human life is a sacred gift from God, so we are taking an active role in promoting a culture of life in our homes, our society and in the world. Our goal is to educate and advocate for the sanctity of life for every person, from conception to natural death. Contact Cathy Campbell, (408) 313-1128 Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) Provides a process for adult inquiries about the Church and what it means to be Catholic. The program prepares adults for the Easter Sacraments. Contact Deacon Brian McKenna, (408) 255-9950 Young Adults Our Young Adult ministry is to make Christ active and alive in all aspects of our busy lives. We share with each other our faith and our friendship. We face the challenges and joys of this time in our lives with a spirit of a common journey.
